ARE THERE ANY FEES?
We work hard to make sure that the Huron Players stays fee-free to allow everyone the opportunity to join us!
WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES WOULD I HAVE AS A HURON PLAYER?
Whether you are an actor or a techie, all Huron Players build and paint the set, help with ad selling & fundraise for each show, and put up posters.
WOULD I HAVE TO DO EVERY SHOW IF I JOIN?
Not at all. You can participate in which ever ones you would like to do. The shows line up with sports seasons so it is possible to play a sport and do theater!
HOW OFTEN DO YOU MEET?
We have a Mass Meeting every Monday at 4:00 where we talk about what is happening that week. The director also releases an audition schedule at the beginning of each show so that you can plan ahead for rides and other activities. You rarely need to come every day until the show is about to go up; it depends on your rehearsal schedule or how much tech you want to do.
HOW DO I AUDITION?
Join our Facebook page or get on our email list to find out the introductory meeting and audition dates. At the introductory meeting for a show you will get an audition form to fill out and bring it to your audition. There are two audition dates; you only need to come to one. You will do cold readings from the script so you won't have to prepare a monologue!
DO FRESHMEN EVER GET CAST?
Freshman get cast all the time! Huron Players is always happy to see new faces :)
WHAT KIND OF TECHNICAL THEATRE CAN I DO?
Students work on set construction, painting, props, lighting, sound, photography, videography, costumes, makeup, stage management, house management, poster and program design.
HOW DO I DO TECH FOR HURON PLAYERS?
Just show up! Set construction and painting is happening every afternoon. Other technical areas might not meet every day, but you can find out when they are doing work at the Monday Mass Meetings. These are held in Ingram Theater (formerly the Little Theater).
WHAT'S A CREWHEAD?
A crewhead is a student who is in charge of one of the technical aspects of a production. Crewheads include Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Sound, Lights, Costumes, Props, Photography, Videography, Makeup, House Manager, Set Construction, and Painting.
HOW CAN I BE A CREWHEAD?
You have to work on two HP shows before being allowed to crewhead. Once you've done two shows, you can sign up for any crewhead position you want at the introductory meeting for a show. The student board then votes on who gets what crewhead position. Those interested in photography do not have to work on two shows before becoming the photographer. Instead, they must submit a portfolio of 5 or more photos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
