General QuestionsIs the huron players just for people who want to act?
Not at all! At HP, students participate in all aspects of theater. This includes both acting and tech. Tech includes costumes, props, set construction, lighting, and tons more!
What kind of time commitment is the huron players?
It depends on your role within the club. If you are here to be a techie, then you can spend as much or as little time at HP as you like. If you would like to come in one day, drill in ten screws, and leave, that's perfect! If you'd like to come several times a week to help with tech, that's also perfect!
If you are an actor or a crewhead, then you are expected to show up for a specific amount of time, i.e. rehearsals, tech week, and show week. Are there any fees?
Nope! We work hard to make sure that the Huron Players stays fee-free to allow everyone the opportunity to join us!
We do sell things like t-shirts and posters for our shows, but we will also provide financial aid to students who are unable to pay :) How do i donate?
We accept and appreciate many types of donations!
The most common is donating when paying for show shirts or posters, you can donate to HP as a whole, or offer to cover another students items. You can also donate online when buying tickets through showtix4u, all those proceeds do go straight to HP :) Would i have to do every show if i join?
Not at all. You can participate in which ever ones you would like to do. The shows also generally line up with sports seasons so it is possible to play a sport and do theater!
How often do you meet?
We have a Mass Meeting every Monday where we talk about what is happening that week. The director also releases an audition schedule at the beginning of each show so that you can plan ahead for rides and other activities. You rarely need to come every day until the show is about to go up; it depends on your rehearsal schedule or how much tech you want to do.
ActingHow do I audition?
Follow us on Instagram or email us to get on our email list to find out the introductory meeting and audition dates. At the introductory meeting for a show you will get an audition form to fill out and bring it to your audition. There are two audition dates; you only need to come to one. Cold reading is always an option, and you never need to bring a pre-prepared monologue. Sometimes, you'll be able to prepare a piece beforehand - if that's the case, you'll find the necessary information on our audition posters and/or social media.
